This Months Events | Previous Events Album
The following brief descriptions are intended to give you an idea of how we run regular events:
These are held monthly as a means of achieving four things:
- To bring relevant business-related information to our members
- To raise the profile of the Chamber and its members
- To provide sponsors with effective promotional opportunities
- To provide members with networking opportunities
Each Breakfast features at least one key-note speaker and this speaker is usually the last scheduled activity of the event. Networking opportunities exist before 7am and after conclusion of the key-note address. Our resident MC invites attendees to introduce themselves and sponsors and selected members are given additional time to promote their businesses. At some breakfasts, keynote addresses will free-flow while at others we use an interview style.
Breakfasts are scheduled for the non-winter months of March and September.
The end of year gala dinner is held in November. Any other dinners may be scheduled should we feel a particular key-note speaker will have wide appeal to both business operators and partners, and people from the wider community. Formats for Dinners will vary depending on the purpose of the event however they will normally include some light-entertainment in addition to the speaker.
The format for luncheons will be similar to Business Breakfasts.
Each luncheon features at least one key-note speaker and this speaker is usually the last scheduled activity of the event. Networking opportunities exist before 12noon and after conclusion of the key-note address. Our resident MC invites attendees to introduce themselves and sponsors and selected members are given additional time to promote their businesses.
Business Luncheons are scheduled to take place in May and July.
Mingle for Change
Our signature social & networking event held bi-monthly on the last Friday of the month at Shangri La Gardens. The event is fully sponsored by Shangri La Gardens, with a small admission fee going to the Chamber’s charity organisation of choice. The event is free-flowing with little formality and occasionally we have an entertainment-segment that spot-lights local talent. This is always a fun night starting at 5.45pm and concluding at 7.30pm. By the way, the food is so good you’ll be tempted to stay on for dinner at the fabulous Shangri La Gardens Restaurant.
For the early-bird networkers you can’t go past Tuesdayitis. This group meets at Michel’s Patisserie in Wynnum Plaza every Tuesday morning at 7.30am, come rain, hail, storm or snow …. You just can’t keep this group down. Why not drop in and join them soon!
A similar group will be introduced in the Wynnum CBD during 2010.
Business Briefing Workshops
These are held from time to time, presenting topics of local business concern. They are typically held in the early evenings at either our Business Centre or a Function Centre. Sessions last for no more than 2 hours. Groups are usually restricted to 8 -16 participants to ensure optimum one-on-one support and skills development. All workshops include group activities and the issue of relevant handout materials.
